Trade Show Display Truss Exhibits and Displays

A lot has changed recently in the realm of Trade Show Display Truss. Ten years ago they were heavy, cumbersome and difficult to use exhibits. They were originally designed for the entertainment industry to hold heavy lights. That same heavy duty truss still has a function within the exhibit industry. However, truss display designs have been introduced over the last few years that have brought some welcome alternatives.

Recently there was a new Portable Display Truss system was introduced that retains the positives of truss displays while eliminating the primary negative. What would that be? Weight. Over a relatively short span of time the footprint of truss, that is the amount of space a vertical element takes up on the floor, has been reduced from 12” to 6” and now to 3”. This is a big deal because it greatly reduces the number of shipping containers and weight. This means that the ongoing expense of owning a truss exhibit as it relates to shipping and drayage bills comes way down. The new portable truss exhibits display impressive graphics and/or LCD screens. It’s not for every company, however, because it  doesn’t support slatwall, shelving or the heavy duty lights we mentioned.

For businesses needing a combination of sturdiness, flexibility and that prefer a hi-tech look, the 6” and 12” Truss displays provide a lot of positive benefits. The same components used in a 10’ display can be incorporated into an island. The entire system can be redesigned with the addition of only a few parts. The cost of truss is substantially lower than a custom laminate display. With display truss designed for trade shows there is a lot of versatility; you can combine large format graphics, display product on shelves, slatwall or in a number of other ways, include conference areas and get your exhibit up as high as the convention will allow. And in a positive development, a new lightweight truss system was introduced at the recent Exhibitor Show in Las Vegas that packs out in portable clamshell cases.

Why wouldn’t you want to own a Trade Show Exhibit Truss system? Well, the portable system will work for most companies. The heavier 6” & 12” systems, on the other hand, may be more exhibit than you need. Thus, before you buy any booth you need to figure out what you need in a booth. LCD presentations are very popular now but the fact is that most exhibit systems are sturdy enough to support an LCD. Truss works for companies that need to display a ton of product or a few products with a lot of weight. You can get a lot of slatwall and shelving in a single 10’ truss exhibit. Otherwise, you may be better off with a lighter portable display system.
